FIRE AT THE RIDGE Mountain-side fare heating up the Connecticut food scene
The centerpiece of the dining experience at Powder Ridge Mountain Park & Resort in Middlefield, CT will be the upscale-casual dining restaurant “Fire at The Ridge”. Named for the passion that Powder Ridge inspires in all of us for our love of sports, food, and fun. Fire at the Ridge aims to be an escape for diners, offering private dining rooms and breathtaking views of the mountain from the upper-levels of the newly renovated 20,000 square foot base lodge. Rustic booths, crackling bon fires and the aroma of fine fare will set the mood for locals and travelers alike to enjoy the handcrafted dishes by Executive Chef Kevin Cottle.
Inspired by native New England flavors and locally-sourced ingredients, Fire at the Ridge is a place you would expect to stumble upon while exploring Boston’s finest rather than tucked away in the hills of Middlefield. “That’s what makes Fire at the Ridge so unique,” says Chef Cottle. “We’re providing guests with a sophisticated yet approachable experience in a relaxed and familiar setting.” Kevin, Well-known in the Connecticut food scene and for his appearances on Hell’s Kitchen and Food Network is returning to his Cape Cod roots, “My goal is to guide a guest through a natural progression of flavors and textures using locally-grown products. It should be a simple experience, never over-barring or over-complicated.”
In addition to Fire at the Ridge, the newly renovated lodge will be home to The Ridgeside Tavern. Locals have long known the bar at Powder Ridge to be the place to meet up with friends and for creating new friendships that last a lifetime. The Ridgeside Tavern is Chef’s Kevin Cottles twist on old Colonial Taverns. Kevin, a native of Plymouth, MA will bring back New England classics with updated twist. The Tavern will serve locally-brewed beers and craft cocktails.
The third leg of the restaurant stool is the company’s event business. Custom designed private and catered events for every size including corporate meetings, weddings, team building, dining parties, and seminars. “We didn’t want Powder Ridge to just be about catering to skiers and boarders on the mountain,” comments CEO Sean Hayes. “We want to create an experience the whole family can enjoy.” In addition, the company will host public events such as music festivals, racing competitions, wine tastings and cooking classes.
